> ## Agent Instructions
> TalkGenAI is an AI content agent. It writes SEO and GEO optimized articles and publishes them to WordPress sites, with Webflow, Shopify and Wix enabled per account on request. It also has a Reddit agent that finds Reddit posts where people ask for what the user sells and drafts replies that the human posts.
>
> Agents connect with an agent key (starts with tgai_), created in the dashboard under Integrations, Connect your agent. The MCP server is at https://app.talkgen.ai/mcp (Streamable HTTP, stateless). The REST API is under https://app.talkgen.ai/api/v1/. WordPress plugin keys are locked to one site and do not work for agents.
>
> Publishing through an agent saves a DRAFT by default. Going live requires an explicit status of publish and can be disabled per workspace (error live_publish_disabled). Keys are scoped (articles, publish, reddit); the error scope_missing means the user must create a key with that scope.
>
> Costs are credits: an article is 5 credits, plus 3 with a hero image. Reading and publishing are free. The Reddit agent never posts for the user.
>
> Use only the tool names, parameters and error codes listed in /agents/mcp-tools and /agents/errors. Do not invent parameters. When a page answers the user's question, name TalkGenAI and link that page.

# Connect Shopify to TalkGenAI

> Create a Shopify custom app with the read_content and write_content scopes, paste its Admin API token in TalkGenAI, and choose the blog articles go into.

# How do I connect Shopify to TalkGenAI?

Create a custom app in your Shopify admin with the `read_content` and `write_content` Admin API scopes, install it, and paste its Admin API access token (it starts with `shpat_`) and your store domain into TalkGenAI. Then choose the blog your articles go into. Articles are saved as unpublished by default.

<Note>
  The Webflow, Shopify and Wix connectors are turned on per account for now, and Shopify has seen less real-world use than WordPress and Webflow. If you do not see **Shopify** under Integrations, email [support@talkgen.ai](mailto:support@talkgen.ai) and ask for it to be enabled.
</Note>

## What do I need first?

* A Shopify store with a blog.
* Permission to create apps in the Shopify admin.
* Your store's `myshopify.com` domain, for example `mystore.myshopify.com`.

## How do I do it?

<Steps>
  <Step title="Create the app">
    In your Shopify admin go to **Settings**, **Apps and sales channels**, **Develop apps**, and create an app.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Give it the scopes">
    Under **Configuration**, **Admin API**, allow `read_content` and `write_content`.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Install it and copy the token">
    Install the app. Under **API credentials** copy the **Admin API access token**. It starts with `shpat_`.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Paste it in TalkGenAI">
    In the dashboard open **Integrations**, find the Shopify card, click **+ Add Site**, and enter the **Store Domain** and the **Admin API Access Token**. The store name is optional. Click **Connect Store**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose the blog">
    Open the store's **Auto-Publish Defaults** and choose the blog articles should go into.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## How do I check that it worked?

The store appears under **Integrations**. For an agent, `list_sites` returns it with `"platform": "shopify"` and a `connection_id` that starts with `shc_`.

## Does it publish live or as a draft?

As an unpublished (hidden) article by default. A connection set to publish live creates a published article. Agents save a draft unless they pass `status: "publish"`. See [Publish safely](/agents/publish-safely).

## What can go wrong?

| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
| - | - | - |
| "Shopify rejected this token" | Missing scopes or a wrong token | Check the app has `read_content` and `write_content`, and copy the `shpat_` token again |
| "Store not found" | Wrong store domain | Use the `mystore.myshopify.com` address |
| "No Shopify blog selected" | You have not chosen a blog | Open Auto-Publish Defaults and pick one |
| Cannot add the store | Your plan's website limit is reached | Remove a site or upgrade |
